Joy, Joy, Joy on Christmas

Hello Family, My message to you on Christmas. As you know the three wise Men were astounded by the light of a star signaling the baby Jesus. When they arrived in Jerusalem from many miles away, they witnessed the light over a manger, shining on a child wrapped in swaddling clothing. They bowed down in awe of The King Of Kings, Lord of Lords. The Savior had been born into this world! There was great Joy in their hearts as witnesses to this event. It changed mankind forever. It changed me forever. All I'm saying is this season is simple. We celebrate the birth of Jesus as the real and Holy reason for this wonderful season. May you and yours have the best day in remembrance of the real reason for the season with Joy and Peace. As One of my Aunts says it's Jesus Birthday. Happy birthday Jesus! Until next time, God bless you my family.

GM, Chrysler, and Ford FYI

Dear Family I thought this is some important information to have. Ford, Chrysler and GM's contributions after 9/11. An interesting commentary...You might find this of interest: 'CNN Headline News did a short news listing regarding Ford and GM's contributions to the relief and recovery efforts in New York and Washington. The findings
are as follows..... 1. Ford- $10 million to American Red Cross matching employee20contributions of the same number plus 10 Excursions to NY Fire Dept. The
company also offered ER response! team services and office space to displaced government employees. 2. GM- $10 million to American Red Cross matching employee contributions of the same number and a fleet of vans, suv's, and
trucks. 3. Daimler Chrysler- $10 million to support of the children and victims of the Sept. 11 attack. 4. Harley
Davidson motorcycles- $1 million and 30 new motorcycles to the New York Police Dept. 5. Volkswagen-Employees and management created a Sept 11 Foundation, funded initial with $2 million, for the assistance of the children and victims of the World Trade Center. 6. Hyundai- $300,000 to the American Red Cross. 7. Audi-Nothing!8. BMW- Nothing! 9. Daewoo- Nothing!10. Fiat- Nothing! 11. Honda- Nothing! despite boasting of second best sales month ever in August 2001 12. Isuzu- Nothing! 13. Mitsubishi- Nothing! 14. Nissan- Nothing! 15. Porsche- Nothing! Press release with condolences via the Porsche website. 16. Subaru- Nothing! 17. Suzuki- Nothing!18. Toyota- Nothing! despite claims of high sales in
July and August 2001. Whenever the time may be for you to purchase or lease a new vehicle, keep this information in mind. You might want to give more consideration to a car manufactured by an American-owned and / or American based company. Apart from Hyundai and Volkswagen, the foreign car companies contributed nothing at all to the citizens of the United States ... It's OK for these companies to take money out of this country, but it is apparently not acceptable to return some in a time of crisis. I believe we should not forget things like this. Say thank you in a way that gets their attention. If these Companies fail, our problems will get worse!! Until next time.

Diabetic Sweets for Thanksgiving

Hello, and greetings Family. I thought I'd share this simple recipe with those of you who will try it. This is a low fat low calorie dish(only 140 calories) and Diabetics can have some without worry. I hope you try and enjoy this.

Sweet Potatoes With Apples
Serves 4 to 6

Try this delicious dish made with autumn favorites: sweet potatoes, tart apples and maple syrup. It's ready in just 20 minutes. Ingredients: Non-stick vegetable cooking spray,1 pound sweet potatoes, cooked, peeled and sliced ¼-inch thick,2 medium tart apples, peeled, cored and cut in thin wedges, ¼ cup orange juice, 2 tablespoons maple syrup, and 1 tablespoon margarine. Directions: 1. Spray a 9-inch baking dish with the vegetable cooking spray. Arrange alternate layers of potatoes and apples in the dish.2. Pour orange juice and maple syrup over the layers. Dot with margarine.3. Cover and bake in a 375 degree F preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until apples are tender. (My advise, is to use a pie dish and arrange in a round fashion around the dish.) I got this from Remedy online magazine. Until next time take care.

Election Day 2008

Hello Family. Well it looks like our day is here. Many people have approached me and said "Vote For Obama. It's almost thoughtless in our community to even say that. But what do I know? In Northeast Ohio, the lawn signs that I saw said "Obama/Biden" or" Time For a Change. " I did see some McCain signs but only 2, or 3. This year because of my Mother I decided to vote absentee, and did so a couple of weeks ago. Provisional ballots accounted for roughly 24- 26% of the vote. I've passed by two election stations today and there are no lines. A couple of weeks ago there were long lines at Shaker Square, and at the Board of Elections. I just cant help but think about what kind of tricks they're going to try this time? What they don't know is that we are prayed up! Even so, this day, and this election is now going to be a big part of history. Until next time, take care.

Age Just a Number (A Tribute to George Carlin)

George Carlin on age:(Absolutely Brilliant)IF YOU DON'T READ THIS TO THE VERY END, YOU HAVE LOST A DAY IN YOUR LIFE. AND WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED, DO AS I AM DOING AND SEND IT ON. George Carlin's Views on AgingDo you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions. "How old are you?" "I'm four and a half!" You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the keyYou get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead. "How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!" You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life . . You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!! But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed? You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone. But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would! So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday! You get into your 80's and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30 ; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; "I Was JUST 92."Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. "I'm 100 and a half!" May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!HOW TO STAY YOUNG1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay "them." 2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop." And the devil's name is Alzheimer's. 4. Enjoy the simple things.5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive. 7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help. 9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. And if you don't send this to at least 8 people - who cares? But do share this with someone . I got this from Cousin Joan. Until next time heed the message.

Dorian Has Retired

Hello family. I am proud to announce that my brother Dorian has completed his tenure as Senior Project Engineer with the General Motors Corporation. He has spent the last 37 years in various positions with the company. His most recent position was a Safety Engineer for the Chevrolet Corvette Program. I was in Detroit when the "C5" Corvette was about to be launched, and I saw 50 years of Corvettes lined up at the GM Tech Center. I met Mr. Dave Hill who has also retired since, as well as seeing allot of top brass with my own eyes. I probably shouldn't tell this but the C5 drove like a dream, and commanded allot of respect on the road. Actually that type of job is what many people, especially car enthusiast, would only dream of. I imagine he'll miss working with all those intelligent people, and being creative at work. Dorian is also in a book entitled "All Corvettes Are Red." Well, when I look back I can say Dorian has been an excellent brother, a Christian father and husband, and a good person. I just wish he wouldn't forget he's not always driving a Corvette. Hats off to you Dorian, and God Bless. Until next time.

Bad Economy Might Be Good For High Blood Pressure

As the worsening economy puts increasing strain on people's pocketbooks, tough economic times may actually have overall health benefits. According to a recent article in the Los Angeles Times, researchers have found that tough economic periods seem to correspond to a decrease in deaths from diseases and conditions that are sensitive to lifestyle choices.
Deaths from high blood pressure, heart disease, and even car crashes fall as people worried about the economy eat, smoke, and drive less.
After examining a wealth of data from the United States and 23 developing nations, economics professor Christopher J. Ruhm, Ph.D., of the University of North Carolina, found that "deaths, overall...decrease when times turn bad." Ruhm argues that "the more that a cause of death affects primarily young people, the greater the effect of a shifting economy."

This is an excerpt from Dr Craig Weber's Health column on Blood pressure.

A Message From William

Dear Family,

I will be traveling to East Africa with Pastor Peter Badia October 14th through November 15th. Peter Badia is an indigenous missionary living in Kenya . He has visited me in my home twice and on one occasion with his wife and daughter went with me to visit Aunt Ethel and Uncle Gerald. He is doing a great work in East Africa and I am privileged to partner with him in fulfilling the Great Commission.

Attached are two documents, one calling our church to 40 days of prayer and the itinerary of our agenda. As you pray for me and the mission, please be informed what to pray in accordance with the attachment. I do covet your prayers.

Please keep a watchful eye on Shirley and my mom. I had hoped to visit Aunt Ethel and Uncle Gerald before I leave. Please look out for them as well. This is the longest time I’ll be away since relocating back to Virginia in 1991.

I do not have all of our family’s email addresses. Please feel free to forward to ensure the widest dissemination. God Bless
(Let me know if you would like a copy of this email with the attachments)
Until next time.

Headed Towards Joy

By now, 2000 some years ago, The Three Wise Men (Three Kings) had already seen the signs and had begun their journey from faraway lands. They were headed towards a joyful event. And as those wise men, we are headed towards a joyful event. Please let faith guide you as we head toward the joy of our celebration of Thanksgiving and the birth of Christ. And remember the following important charitable agencies in their benevolent help during the Holidays. Please support your favorite charity. If you don't have one please get one. If you can give, give in a family members name.

The National Parkinson's Foundation

The American Red Cross

The American Cancer Society

The Lupus Foundation of America

The American Heart Association

Until next time. God Bless You.

Believe It !

When God leads you to the edge of the cliff, trust Him fully and let go, only 1 of 2 things will happen, either He'll catch you when you fall, or He'll teach you how to fly! The power of one sentence! God is going to shift things around for you today and let things work in your favor. If you believe, God closes doors no man can open & God opens doors no man can close. Have a blessed day and remember to be a blessing...
"Trials keep you Strong... Sorrow keeps you Human, Failure keeps you Humble, Success keeps you glowing, but only Faith keeps you going."
This came from a friend. Until next time.

Ike Passed Through !

Hello and Greetings Family. Man that Ike or his leftovers passed through Cleveland last night around 7:30 PM until 10:00 PM. He left allot of down trees and power lines, although he was just a high wind at first, he was a powerful storm to have even reached us here in Cleveland. I personal saw power lines down and a couple of big trees down, along with a telephone pole fire near Shaker Square. Then it was a driving rain for about an hour, then everything simmered back down. When I got up today you could see tree branches, large and small all over the place. Well we survived, but I was surprised at Ike's reach. And then the power went out at 6:30 P.M. and still out today at 6:30 P.M. Today. We're in the dark. Until next time, take care.

Are There Any Sports Fans?

Hello and greetings family. I have been trying to be a Browns fan for years now. Every time they seem to get better, you know how it goes, it seems they let me down. I will however remain a fan. We have a nice new stadium, and well a nice presence in the foot ball arena, for now. But the rest is to be seen. Enjoy and send me some sports articles please, I'll publish your post for you. Until next time.

Why Am I Black?

Hello Family I got this from Cousin Joan, I thought you might like it.
This is deep, so take your time. Why Did You Make Me Black Lord ?... Lord ........ Why did you make me black? Why did you make someone the world would hold back? Black is the color of dirty clothes, of grimy hands and feet... Black is the color of darkness, of tired beaten streets... Why did you give me thick lips, a broad nose and kinky hair? Why did you create someone Who receives the hated stare? Black is the color of the bruised eye when someone gets hurt... Black is the color of darkness, black is the color of dirt. Why is my bone structure so thick, my hips and cheeks so high? Why are my eyes brown, and not the color of the sky? Why do people think I'm useless? How come I feel so used? Why do people see my skin and think I should be abused? Lord, I just don't understand... What is it about my skin? Why is it some people want to hate me and not know the person within? Black is what people are 'Labeled' when others want to keep them away... Black is the color of shadows cast... Black is the end of the day. Lord you know my own people mistreat me, and you know this just ain't right... They don't like my hair, they don't like my skin, as they say I'm too dark or too light! Lord, don't you think it's time to make a change? Why don't you redo creation and make everyone the same? God's Reply: Why did I make you black? Why did I make you black? I made you in the color of coal from which beautiful diamonds are formed... I made you in the color of oil, the black gold which keeps people warm. Your color is the same as the rich dark soil that grows the food you need.... Your color is the same as the black stallion and panther, Oh what majestic creatures indeed! All colors of the heavenly rainbow can be found throughout every nation... When all these colors are blended, you become my greatest creation! Your hair is the texture of lamb's wool, such a beautiful creature is he... I am the shepherd who watches them, I will ALWAYS watch over thee! You are the color of the midnight sky, I put star glitter in your eyes... There's a beautiful smile hidden behind your pain... That's why your cheeks are so high! You are the color of dark clouds from the hurricanes I create in September.... I made your lips so full and thick, so when you kiss...they will remember! Your stature is strong, your bone structure thick to withstand the burden of time... The reflection you see in the mirror, that image that looks back,..that is MINE! So get off your knees, look in the mirror and tell me what you see? I didn't make you in the image of darkness... I made you in the image of ME!

This Hurricane Season

Hello and Greetings Family. This hurricane season is getting on my nerves. Gustav, Hanna, Ike, and the oddball Karina in the Pacific Rim. Thank God Gustav has passed. By the time we got his remnants he was just a misty rain in Ohio. Hanna on the other hand is supposed to come inland somewhere near Wilmington, North Carolina, with Ike following a similar path. Now Ike should be close to Bermuda way out into the Atlantic. Also there has been a Tsunami off the coast of Africa. If you are near any of these, just remember that family is praying for your safety. Until next post, take care.

Hurricane Fay

Hello and greetings family. I have not been on this Storm named Fay like the others. She was moving slowly up the Atlantic Coast. She looks unpredictable. The weather service has missed on this one. Now she's headed west towards the edge of the Gulf Of Mexico. Just stay safe and I hope to see you soon. Until next time.

Oops Where's My.......?

A true story.

Today I was at the Doctors office with my Mother. A Lady she new had just come out from getting her blood work done. She spoke to my mother and left the building. A few minutes passed and she was back. "I think I left my keys here." I looked at her to see if she had any of the signs. You know, old age. Sorry there's no buttering it up, We grow old and forgetful. Gracefully she had no such signs. After looking and retracing her path, to no avail, there were no keys. I went with her to her car, but she had to have had her keys because she locked her car with her key fob attached to her keys. We went back in, she had to call AAA for help. Now here's a possible solution, this is what I do. My car has one key does all, so I have a dedicated key ring with that one key on it. That key when not in use is in my right pocket. The rest of my keys including a spare key to the car are on one ring, and when not in use in my left pocket. Get a system and do the same thing. Imagine House keys, Work keys, Car keys, Deposit box keys all gone. Some one will be glad to make a few hundred, to remake or replace all your keys. And of course there are you Women with everything but the kitchen sink in your purse, and couldn't keep up with anything you put in there. My solution to that is DOWNSIZE. Oh yes, you fashionistas better have a darn good system too, changing with every style. Just be careful, there may even be a thief or two lurking around. Until next time, take care.

Our Purpose

Friends and Family

One day, when I was a freshman in high school,
I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school.
His name was Kyle.
It looked like he was carrying all of his books.
I thought to myself, 'Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday?
He must really be a nerd.'
I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.
As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him.
They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt.
His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him.
He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes
My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.
As I handed him his glasses, I said, 'Those guys are jerks.'
They really should get lives.
' He looked at me and said, 'Hey thanks!'
There was a big smile on his face.
It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.
I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived.
As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before.
He said he had gone to private school before now.
I would have never hung out with a private school kid before.
We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books.
He turned out to be a pretty cool kid.
I asked him if he wanted to play a little football
with my friends
He said yes.
We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him.
Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again.
I stopped him and said, 'Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!
' He just laughed and handed me half the books.
Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends..
When we were seniors we began to think about college.
Kyle decided on Georgetown and I was going to Duke.
I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never
be a problem.
He was going to be a doctor and I was going for business on a football scholarship..
Kyle was valedictorian of our class.
I teased him all the time about being a nerd.
He had to prepare a speech for graduation.
I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak
Graduation day, I saw Kyle.
He looked great.
He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school.
He filled out and actually looked good in glasses.
He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him.
Boy, sometimes I was jealous!
Today was one of those days.
I could see that he was nervous about his speech.
So, I smacked him on the back and said, 'Hey, big guy, you'll be great!'
He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled.
' Thanks,' he said.
As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began
'Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years.
Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but mostly your friends...
I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them.
I am going to tell you a story.'
I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the
first day we met.
He had planned to kill himself over the weekend.
He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home.
He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.
'Thankfully, I was saved.
My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable..'
I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment.
I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile.
Not until that moment did I realize it's depth.
Never underestimate the power of your actions..
With one small gesture you can change a person's life.
For better or for worse.
God puts us all in each others lives to impact one another in some way.
Look for God in others. Friends and Family are Angels who help us to fly when we can't do it alone. I believe this. This was sent from a very dear friend. Until next time, take care.

The Family Prayer

Composed by Deacon John B. Tyree
FAMILY PRAYER

Oh God! ___ Our Father,
Blessed be your Holy Name!
To thine be the Glory forever!
We beseech thee in this day that thou hast made. We humble ourselves before you. We raise our voices with “Hallelujahs!”
We seek your will for our lives through your Holy word that you have preserved and laid out before us.
We ask that you kindle the forgiveness in our hearts, that we may forgive each other as we daily walk in the guidance of your Holy Spirit.
We ask for forgiveness for all of our trespasses against you, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Father, many times we fail to appreciate your goodness and your Grace. We try to measure your love for us by the abundance of material blessings you give. Please forgive us!
Help us Oh God, to love one another as you have commanded and demonstrated for us through Jesus Christ. He gave his utmost for each of us. No greater Love! Please let our love parallel the giving of Jesus as He gave sight to the blind, walking to the lame, food to the hungry, shelter to the homeless, clothing to the naked, and a word of salvation to the sin sick souls.
Help us Oh God, to perpetuate your Love by sharing Jesus with every lost soul we come in contact with.
We have have a blessed assurance that your Holy Spirit will never have a ‘power failure’, and your mercy does not have an ‘expiration date’.
We wholly depend upon you, Oh God!
Now keep us in the paths of righteousness for Christ’s sake.
Let the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable unto you Oh God! You are our strength and our redeemer.
We ask it all in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Tropical Storm Edouard

Greetings Family. I have just been looking at the National Weather Map. We have yet another storm picking up strength out into the Gulf of Mexico, called Edouard. For now he is only a Tropical Storm, but again, this system is threatening Texas. As I learn more I will try to keep up. When I hear Texas my ears twitch thinking about family. Last time Miss Dolly was 4 hours too south of family and I probably over reacted. But then prayer is good too, right. I'll keep an eye on Edouard. Until next time.

Rubye's Testimony

My daughter Brittanny graduated from high school this past June. She was 16th in her class, honor society and Dance major at the Arts Magnet School. Throughout the school year she applied for numerous scholarships. She completed so many that the counselor gave her a certificate to acknowledge that she filled out the most scholarship applications. Much to our dismay, we received only $650.00 from all of these and I looked at the bill which was due 7/31/08. With loans we still owed about 4,000 to register for this semester. Without taking the student loans, the balance of the bill is 12,005.00 for the 2008-2009 school year. What are we going to do? We continued to believe that God would make a way. Well, for the last five years Brittanny and I have attended Spirit of Faith Christian Center in Temple Hills, Md. under Drs. Mike and Dee Dee Freeman and are both faithful tithers. For the last 5 years, Brittanny diligently sowed her time and talent into the ministry and participated in several Teen conferences and the Entrepreneurship Program. We have ripped and run for many occasions for her to minister in dance. Likewise, I am active in our Music Ministry in the choir and lyrics ministry during praise and worship and done dance ministry as well. I just graduated from our bible school and have sown faithfully into the scholarship offering year after year confessing that when Brit graduates she would go to school debt free because of my seed. Well, this is the Year of Reaping at my Church, and last night, during the scholarship offering, BRITTANNY ALEXIS SIMONE TYREE was announced as the 2008 Michael A Freeman Educational Scholarship Award Winner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The award is $12,000.00, TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AGAPE!
Rubye

This is indeed great news. Brittanny will be attending The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Until next time, take care.

In Loving Memory

A sick man turned to his doctor as he was preparing to
Leave the examination room and said,
'Doctor, I am afraid to die.
Tell me what lies on the other side.'
Very quietly, the doctor said, 'I don't know.'
'You don't know? You, a Christian man,
Do not know what is on the other side?'
The doctor was holding the handle of the door;
On the other side came a sound of scratching and whining,
And as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room
And leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.
Turning to the patient, the doctor said,
'Did you notice my dog?
He's never been in this room before.
He didn't know what was inside.
He knew nothing except that his master was here,
And when the door opened, he sprang in without fear.
I know little of what is on the other side of death,
But I do know one thing...
I know my Master is there and that is enough.'

May today there be peace within you.
May you trust God that you are exactly
Where you are meant to be.
I believe that family and friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.

In Loving Memory of: Joseph E. Tyree 2-10-24 to 7-2-02
and Elbert M. Tyree Sr. 2-17-26 to 7-5-06
This came to me from an Angel, God Bless

California Shaking

FYI, I've been apprised of the fact that the Los Angeles area has been hit with at least a sizable earthquake in the past 48 hours and several small ones since. We have allot of family out there, so you know what we need to do. I've had no contact, but the Earthquake Center has reported minimal damage and few injuries so far. Take care.

For Barack Obama Or Not?

Hello Family. I usually don't get too politically involved, but I received an email about MTV running a Republican anti Barack campaign which is very negative. MoveOn an organization for Barack's campaign will also air a spot that is probably the most positive presentation of a candidate I can remember. Go over to the family link section to view this very important video for Barack Obama entitled You decide, tell us what you think. I'm not saying send your money but this is worth while. Please sign in for discussion. Take care until next post.

Just Checking In

Hello I just recieved this post from Cousin Rosa Dargan. I relate I check in allot!

A minister passing through his church in the middle of the day, Decided to pause by the altar and see who had come to pray. Just then the back door opened, a man came down the aisle, The minister frowned as he saw the man hadn't shaved in a while. His shirt was kind a shabby and his coat was worn and frayed, the man knelt, he bowed his head, then rose and walked away. In the days that followed, each noon time came this chap, each time he knelt just for a moment, A lunch pail in his lap. Well, the minister's suspicions grew, with robbery a main fear, He decided to stop the man and ask him, 'What are you doing here?' The old man said, he worked down the road. Lunch was half an hour. Lunchtime was his prayer time, For finding strength and power. 'I stay only moments, see, because the factory is so far away; as I kneel here talking to the Lord, This is kind a what I say: 'I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, LORD, HOW HAPPY I'VE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHERS FRIENDSHIP AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN.. DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY, BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY. SO, JESUS, THIS IS JIM CHECKING IN TODAY.' The minister feeling foolish, told Jim, that was fine. He told the man he was welcome To come and pray just anytime time to go, Jim smiled, said 'Thanks.' He hurried to the door. The minister knelt at the altar, he'd never done it before. His cold heart melted, warmed with love, and met with Jesus there. As the tears flowed, in his heart, he repeated old Jim's prayer:
'I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, LORD, HOW HAPPY I'VE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHERS FRIENDSHIP AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN. I DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY, BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY.. SO, JESUS, THIS IS ME CHECKING IN TODAY.' Past noon one day, the minister noticed that old Jim hadn't come. As more days passed without Jim, he began to worry some. At the factory, he asked about him, learning he was ill. The hospital staff was worried, But he'd given them a thrill. The week that Jim was with them, Brought changes in the ward. His smiles , a joy contagious. Changed people, were his reward. The head nurse couldn't understand why Jim was so glad, when no flowers, calls or cards came, Not a visitor he had. The minister stayed by his bed, He voiced the nurse's concern: No friends came to show they cared. He had nowhere to turn. Looking surprised, old Jim spoke up and with a winsome smile; 'the nurse is wrong, she couldn't know, that he's in here all the while everyday at noon He's here, a dear friend of mine, you see, He sits right down, takes my hand, Leans over and says to me: 'I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, JIM, HOW HAPPY I HAVE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND THIS FRIENDSHIP, AND I TOOK AWAY YOUR SIN. ALWAYS LOVE! TO HEAR YOU PRAY, I THINK ABOUT YOU EACH DAY, AND SO JIM, THIS IS JESUS CHECKING IN TODAY.' If this blesses you, pass it on. Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart. May God hold you in the palm of His hand and Angels watch over you. Please pass this page on to your friends & loved ones. If you aren't ashamed. Jesus said, ' If you are ashamed of me,' I will be ashamed of you before my Father.' If you are not ashamed, pass this on. But only if you mean it. So this is me ... Just Checking In (I check in allot!!) Please take care.

Tracking Hurricane Dolly

Hello again family. Another storm has formed in the Gulf of Mexico, named Dolly. This one has upgraded to a catagory one hurricane for now, and expected to gain strength. It's path seems to be towards southwest Texas. Let's pray that Family and friends in that area will be safe. Dolly is expected to hit land by Wednesday, already with winds in excess of 75 miles per hour, and 15 inches of rain throughout it's path. It's a pretty powerful storm. Together, we can make it stall or go out into the Ocean with prayer.

Urgent Email Alert

Hello family. I got this email from Brenda on Tuesday afternoon. "I checked with Norton Anti-Virus, and they are gearing up for this virus! I checked Snopes, and it is for real!! Get this Email message sent around to your contacts ASAP. PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS! You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK,' regardless of who sent it to you. It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the whole hard disc C of your computer. This virus will be received from someone who has your email address in his/her contact list. This is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it. If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent to you by a friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately. This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. Speaking of Family

A couple of months ago I met a relative over the phone. It turns out his name is Jawanza. His proper name is Roger Preston. His mother was Mae who was one of Bernice Jones, and Eddie Gill's sisters. They are connected on Grandma Rosa's side. His Grandmother was Aunt Cora, who was sister to Grandma Rosa. Just to show how interesting this is Jawanza didn't think he had many relatives until our meeting. He has 5 daughters and lives in the D.C. area. Since our initial conversation he asked me to help him with the other side of his family through Ancestry.com. He was amazed, and amused. By the way Jawanza produces a radio show by the name of "Satula"which airs on WOL am radio at 11:00 a.m. on Saturdays. You can tune in online at Wolam.com. The show deals with health issues, holistic medicine, and the likes. I was glad to meet him, he was so elated to have more family. So if you live in D.C. or that area you've probably heard him on the radio. Another cousin! Small, small world. I've included a link to the site to the left.

Need a laugh?

Hello family, I've been getting allot of material to post, and I am grateful. This has come from Dorian.

An elderly woman had just returned to her home from an evening of Church services when she was startled by an intruder. She caught the man in the act of robbing her home of its valuables and yelled, 'Stop! Acts 2:38! ' (Repent and be baptized, in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven.)The burglar stopped in his tracks. The woman calmly called the police and explained what she had done. As the officer cuffed the man to take him in, he asked the burglar, 'Why did you just stand there? All the old lady did was yell a scripture to you.''Scripture?' replied the burglar. 'She said she had an Ax and Two 38's!'PASS THIS ON TO SOMEONE WHO NEEDS A LAUGH TODAY and remember knowing scripture can save your life in more ways than one!

Daily Rules from God 2008

Hello and greetings family. This came from Joan Simons, thanks for this post!
1. Wake Up!! Decide to have a good day. 'Today is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.' Psalms 118:24 2. Dress Up!! The best way to dress up is to put on a smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks. 'The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at outward appearance; but the Lord looks at the heart.' I Samuel 16:7 3. Shut Up!! Say nice things and learn to listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking. 'He who guards his lips guards his soul.' Proverbs 1:3 4. Stand Up!!... For what you believe in. Stand for something or you will fall for anything.. 'Let us not be weary in doing good; for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good...' Galatians 6:9-10 5. Look Up!!... To the Lord. 'I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me.' Philippians 4:13 6. Reach Up!!... For something higher. ' Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, And He will direct your path.' Proverbs 3:5-6 7. Lift Up!!... Your Prayers. ' Do not worry about anything; instead PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING.' Philippians 4:6

Until next time!

Be Careful of the Products You Use

Visine Original. Apparently this product works by shrinking blood vessels in the eye, so overuse can create problems. Ms. Lord smartly advises to treat the cause of redness. For instance: If the redness is caused by dry eye, some cod liver oil might easily take care of the problem.

I found this quite interesting, because we wouldn't think twice about using this product. Do you have any more natural remedies to daily health and well being? If so, please let me know some of your tips. Use the comment section to share, here at the blog.

I took that small excerpt from HSI daily. Visine was on a list of medications that Doctors would not use for themselves or their families.

Until next time take care.

Hurricane Bertha

Hello Family. This storm named Bertha is headed towards the Caribbean out into The Atlantic. I have been tracking this storm because we have family in Bermuda. The last time a storm was headed that way, I mentioned it to the Lord and the storm went around Bermuda. So Again I've asked the Lord to throw a curve around Bermuda. Bertha should be close to the area by Saturday. I have been in contact with Cousin Joan Simons and ironically she likes storms, and is calm about it. Still pray for mercy and a curve in the wind. Until next time, take care.

Food Born Illness Beware

Salmonella toll tops 1,000; peppers now eyed
By LAURAN NEERGAARD, AP Medical Writer
WASHINGTON - More than 1,000 people now are confirmed ill from salmonella initially linked to raw tomatoes, a grim milestone Wednesday that makes this the worst food borne outbreak in at least a decade. Adding to the confusion, the government is implicating some types of hot peppers, too.
Certain raw tomatoes — red round, plum and Roma — remain a chief suspect and the government stressed again Wednesday that people should avoid them unless they were harvested in areas cleared of suspicion.
But people at highest risk of severe illness from salmonella also should not eat raw jalapeno and serrano peppers, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention urged Wednesday. Those at highest risk include the elderly, people with weak immune systems and infants.
There is evidence that raw jalapeno peppers may have caused some of the illnesses, conclude CDC investigations of two clusters of sick people who ate at the same restaurant or catered event.
But the jalapenos don't explain the entire outbreak — because many of the ill insist they didn't eat hot peppers or foods like salsa that contain them, CDC food safety chief Dr. Robert Tauxe told The Associated Press. As for serrano peppers, that was included in the warning because they're difficult for consumers to tell apart.
Also still being investigated is fresh cilantro.
"I understand the frustration" that after weeks of warnings, the outbreak isn't solved, Tauxe said. "But we really are working as hard and as fast as we can to sort out this complicated situation and protect the health of the American people."
The outbreak isn't over, or even showing any sign of slowing, said Tauxe — with about 25 to 40 cases being a reported a day for weeks now, to a total of 1,017 known since the outbreak began on April 10.
At least 300 people became ill in June, with the latest falling sick on June 26. Two deaths are associated with the outbreak — a Texas man in his 80s, and another Texas man who died of cancer but for whom salmonella may have played a role — and 203 people have been hospitalized.
The toll far surpasses what had been considered the largest food borne outbreak of the past decade, the 715 salmonella cases linked to peanut butter in 2006, Tauxe said. In the mid-1990s, there were well over 1,000 cases of cyclospora linked to raspberries, and previous large outbreaks of salmonella from ice cream and milk.
The CDC acknowledges that for every case of salmonella confirmed to the government, there may be 30 to 40 others that go undiagnosed or unreported.
"The outbreak could actually be tens of thousands of people rather than 1,000 people," agreed Caroline Smith deWaal of the consumer advocacy Center for Science in the Public Interest. "It's certainly a disturbing event to have this many illnesses spanning this many months."

A Family Wish

- I Wish You Enough - Recently I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure. Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the mother said, "I love you and I wish you enough". The daughter replied, "Mom, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Mom". They kissed and the daughter left. The mother walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see she wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on her privacy but she welcomed me in by asking, "Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?". Yes, I have," I replied. "Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?". "I am old and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is - the next trip back will be for my funeral," she said. "When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough'. May I ask what that means?". She began to smile. "That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone". She paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail and she smiled even more. "When we said , 'I wish you enough', we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them". Then turning toward me, she shared the following as if she were reciting it from memory. I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear. I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting. I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess. I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye. She then began to cry and walked away. They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them but then an entire life to forget them.

This came from Uncle John

Until next time, take care.

A Little Family Humor We all Relate To

This came from Cousin Rovere (Keith)
Black and White (Under age 40? You won't understand.) You could hardly see for all the snow, Spread the rabbit ears as far as they go. Pull a chair up to the TV set, 'Good Night, David. Good Night, Chet.' My Mom used to cut chicken, chop eggs and spread mayo on the same cutting board with the same knife and no bleach, but we didn't seem to get food poisoning. My Mom used to defrost hamburger on the counter AND I used to eat it raw sometimes, too. Our school sandwiches were wrapped in wax paper in a brown paper bag, not in ice-pack coolers, but I can't remember getting e.coli. Almost all of us would have rather gone swimming in the lake instead of a pristine pool (talk about boring), no beach closures then. The term cell phone would have conjured up a phone in a jail cell, and a pager was the school PA system. We all took gym, not PE .. and risked permanent injury with a pair of high top Ked's (only worn in gym) instead of having cross- training athletic shoes with air cushion soles and built in light reflectors. I can't recall any injuries but they must have happened because they tell us how much safer we are now. Flunking gym was not an option . even for stupid kids! I guess PE must be much harder than gym. Speaking of school, we all said prayers and sang the national anthem, and staying in detention after school caught all sorts of negative attention. We must have had horribly damaged psyches. What an archaic health system we had then. Remember school nurses? Ours wore a hat and everything. I thought that I was supposed to accomplish something before I was allowed to be proud of myself. I just can't recall how bored we were without computers, Play Station, Nintendo, X-box or 270 digital TV cable stations. Oh yeah ... and where was the Benadryl and sterilization kit when I got that bee sting? I could have been killed! We played 'king of the hill' on piles of gravel left on vacant construction sites, and when we got hurt, Mom pulled out the 48-cent bottle of Mercurochrome (kids liked it better because it didn't sting like iodine did) and then we got our butt spanked. Now it's a trip to the emergency room, followed by a 10-day dose of a $49 bottle of antibiotics, and then Mom calls the attorney to sue the contractor for leaving a horribly vicious pile of gravel where it was such a threat. We didn't act up at the neighbor's house either because if we did, we got our butt spanked there and then we got butt spanked again when we got home. I recall Donny Reynolds from next door coming over and doing his tricks on the front stoop, just before he fell off. Little did his Mom know that she could have owned our house. Instead, she picked him up and swatted him for being such a goof. It was a neighborhood run amuck. To top it off, not a single person I knew had ever been told that they were from a dysfunctional family. How could we possibly have known that? We needed to get into group therapy and anger management classes? We were obviously so duped by so many societal ills that we didn't even notice that the entire country wasn't taking Prozac! How did we ever survive? LOVE TO ALL OF US WHO SHARED THIS ERA, AND TO ALL WHO DIDN'T; SORRY FOR WHAT YOU MISSED. I WOULDN'T TRADE IT FOR ANYTHING. Pass this to someone and remember that life's most simple pleasures are very often the best.

Father's Day 2008

Hello and greetings Family. When I was younger I couldn't imagine being without my Dad, actually it never crossed my mind. The things we take for granted. Many Men without children don't always know the responsibilities associated with being a Dad. Some don't realise until they become a Dad. So with those two things in mind here's a Salute to the Fathers in the Family. I have fond memories of not only my Dad, but also the other Father figures in my life. Happy Fathers Day. My Father said " a child is a blessing," I say a Father is a blessing! Until next time take care.

Memorial Day 2008

Dear Family, I was thinking I needed to post something special in our observance of Memorial Day. There are many family members that have gone home to be with the Lord. I view Memorial Day differently than I used to, even though it is a time to remember family and friends. It is a time to remember the great teachings that give us life each day. And a time to be delighted in these fond memories. Hopefully you have some fond memories you could share with the family. Please get your Bible and read these most appropriate verses in Ephesians 2: 1-10. Be soothed if you have had a loss. You're blessed if you haven't. Have a Great weekend! Until next time, take care.

Is There A Cure For Cancer?

Hello Family, I've come across a great site called A World Without Cancer. It seems that nature (GOD) has provided relief for those people suffering with various cancers. It would be worth your while to visit this site. It deals with natural healing with vitamins and specific life style changes to cope with and or alleviate cancer altogether. Cancer does tend to run in families. To my knowledge we have lost a few to cancer: Odessa B. Jones, her brother Eddy Gill, (both from Grandma Rosa Etta's side) and Uncle Bill (Rev. William D. Tyree Jr.) My Father, Deacon Joseph E. Tyree also had a brief encounter with prostate cancer, but they got it early and it never came back. Please share this site with someone you love. There's a link to the left. Take care and God Bless.

Wow Another New Link

Hello Family, It looks like we are on our way to a new level of success. My Nephew Billy has a link entitled Great Opportunity. It's pretty nice and has adversity of products. Please visit all our links and acclimate yourselves to the families different businesses. Thanks, until next time take care.

Try this at Home

Hello once again, I guess you were wondering how long before I start writing about food. Well here's the first installment. Since it's getting warmer I'll share one of my personal favorites. Before I go on I need to share some safe serve secrets with you. Remember to wash vegetables and meat before cooking. When you're done preparing cooked foods, cover and refrigerate after serving. Did you know that if you leave rice or cooked beans sitting out over time they can both potentially kill you? Yes they can under extreme circumstances. Please avoid that. In this day and age everything must be washed cleaned and sanitized, then cooked foods should be refrigerated. Refrigerated foods should be held at 40 degrees F. or less and Cooked foods should be served at no less than 130 degrees F.and pork should reach 160 degrees F.to be safe.

Concerns About The Blog

Hello, I've been alerted to a concern about the blog. I believe I have taken every precaution so that our Blog is safe. It is safe from any predator. I am the administrator, so if any unsavory item is posted, I can throw it off (delete). Even when you sign on, your email address can not be seen by a "surfer." It is better to get your free account, then you can post comments and share. The blog will help you take this step. Every time someone post a comment I will receive an email stating such. I have put as many prevalent filters in place as I thought we need. There will be links later on, and you will be able to upload pictures or video and voice or audio. Thanks for the concern and if this is your first time here, welcome. This is our blog, feel free to use it! Thanks for all the great support in getting us to this point.

Passover

Hello and Greetings. You may or may not know about the terrible storm that hit in Suffolk, Va., and Hertford County North Carolina. Well I called Aunt Josie, and she gave me this quote "We've been passed over once again." So she's doing fine, she said there wasn't even any high wind there in Chesapeake. I also talked to Aunt Ethel who pretty much said the same thing in Ahoskie. So until next time take care.

We are online now!

Hello, this is a milestone for me. I am in celebration mode. We've got our own blog. Now every month I can post family birthdays, and any kind of event right here. If you would like to share or compose an article that will benefit our family, we can do it from The Tyree Tree Family Blog. I'm still learning how to use this wonderful tool and I might need help. I hope I can count on you if I need you family. Welcome to our Blog.
