The Garden 2011

IMG-20110625-00135

I had the first visitor, Tiger the next door neighbors cat. He had to come check me out while I was digging around in the dirt. He soon was satisfied and went to play.

IMG-20110625-00136 It took a while, but at least I got it done.  I had to add two bags of top soil as we are undulated with clay type soil.

IMG-20110625-00137 The tomatoes have grown considerably. I say, after being exposed to natural rain as apposed to tap water with all those chemicals in it. I’ll see if I’m going to keep them in the pots. I’m not sure yet.

IMG-20110625-00138 I’m almost done here. it came together quite nicely, especially with the white picket fence.

IMG-20110625-00140 This year I’m going for the small Zinnias around the edge with Summer Squash (Yellow), and more Tomatoes from seeds, and Sunflowers in the corner. We’ll see what happens.

IMG-20110625-00139 Oh, look who showed up. The neighborhood bully. Well not any more Feral beat him up, and he’s still limping. Six lives gone.  No really Feral beat him UP ! He’s healing for round two.

Controversy

IMG-20110624-00119

That guy with the sign, and this small group of people walked into a public exhibition on abortion. There’s allot of very graphic pictures of abortion issues to the right of this scene. There was a conversation about why the pro-abortion people had the nerve to come where the anti-abortion people were. That’s when I walked up. The Gentleman with the umbrella (dark blue jacket) with his back turned, had realized these pro-abortion supporters claimed  no God. (Conversation)He told them as boldly as they had been, that they would be cast into the lake of fire. So, if the lake is real, so is God. I thought there was going to be mayhem. I was far enough away to run if I had to. I thought this was just going to be another day. Interesting, but thoughtful. Our ‘model’ even turned when he saw me taking the picture so it would be a good shot of him with that sign. This phrase, “Suffer little children to come unto me,” popped in my head.

The abortion issue is probably the most complicated issue I can think of, and it was right in my face today. Would you just have walked on by ?

After Affect

The Moon

Well the wolves weren’t exactly howling to the full moon of last Wednesday, but people sure were acting strange. I couldn’t catch the moon at night, but I saw it during the day. It was different. And of course I didn’t have the right camera with me. Sky blue background, and the full white moon at evening light in Cleveland.

Psst Guys

IMG-20110616-00108

With Father’s Day coming Sunday. I was reminded of the fact that my father always said that a man should know how to cook, amongst an array of other things. So here’s my version of Top Chef, I call it Chef Mark. Don’t laugh, A Brother can cook.

IMG-20110616-00109 This is the  before and after shots of my Salmon Croqs.  That's what I call them. There’s allot of prep, and it takes about an hour before you start actually cooking. I usually don’t like to fry. But these are fried in a vegetable oil and olive oil mixture. You can bake this recipe, but on a hot day you might not want to heat the kitchen up that much.

IMG-20110616-00110 Then on to the cucumber salad. Two types of cucumber. The Regular every day cucumber skinned, and cut into cubes. And An English Cucumber cut into cubes leave the skin on. Diced red onion, with a whole scallion, cut up, and diced green peppers, put a nice accent touch along with robust flavor to the mix. Salt , pepper, garlic powder, and paprika are all in there. Top this with Parmesan powder.

Guess Who’s Back

Shaker Heights-20110608-00080

It’s Feral king of the grass. You know that means it’s time to plant the garden. I don’t know about Feral, he looks sort of beat up, like it was a rough winter. I saw him limping around when we had all that snow. His right eye is closed too. I think he used about three of his lives, but he’s back. He relaxed once he saw me. WEW. I’ll be planting the garden in the next week or so.  What’s in your garden ? Mike Lumpkin (an OLE friend)brought us some tomato plants. I’m going to repot them tonight and leave them in the house until they mature some. Let’s see what happens. Do some gardening with me.

Dust It Off/ Bicycle Season

Cleveland-20110601-00055

Well I was off today so I went for a ride. Dusted off the Giant, a nd rode a little. The Bike feels just like it did when it was new. It’s a smooth cruiser, people in cars should be jealous. The wind felt like Santa Anna Winds, warm and brisk. What a beautiful day.

I decided to go to the Cemetery since I didn’t get to go Monday. It’s about six, seven miles one way there.
