Dear Family:

Greetings in the matchless name of our Resurrected Lord, Jesus Christ. I am writing to you as a friend and supporter of our ministry at First Baptist Church, Berkley.

We are in the midst of a comprehensive renovation and facility enhancement project. The costs to make our vision a reality total $3.3 million dollars for which we were able to secure a loan of only $2.4 million. This loan was made possible because the men and women of our church gave sacrificial offerings of $300,000 and pledge gifts of $600,000 in a 2 month period. I praise God for touching the hearts of these individuals so that work could begin on our project. (God blessed Shirley and me to be able to sacrifice $80,000 in this venture.)

To fulfill our vision of an elevator addition and the renovation of the second floor of our educational building we need an additional $900,000. I have asked each of our 426 adult members to contribute at least $1000 so that we may approach our lender with leverage to complete the project now. To do this addition in another phase would add $500,000 to the cost.

I am asking you to prayerfully consider supporting us with a $1000 gift. Please make your check payable to First Baptist Church, Berkley and send it to the above address by July 5, 2010. The reason for the short notice is so that we can let the architect and contractor know how to proceed. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly at (757) 418-2948 for further clarification or to have any of your questions answered.

May our God richly bless you for taking the time to read this email and entertaining the idea of supporting us as your friend.

Sincerely,

William D. Tyree, III

P.S. We anticipate worshiping in our newly renovated sanctuary as early as August 15th. The Grand Celebration will be September 5, 2010. More details will follow but please save the date. Lastly, feel free to forward this to any family I may have overlooked.
