New Years Quote
And been bow'd to the earth by its fury;
To whom the Twelve Months, that have recently pass'd
Were as harsh as a prejudiced jury -
Still, fill to the Future! and join in our chime,
The regrets of remembrance to cozen,
And having obtained a New Trial of Time,
Shout in hopes of a kindlier dozen.

The Magi at the Birth ofJesus
Matthew 2
The Magi Visit the Messiah
1 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magia]">[a] from the east came to Jerusalem 2 and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”3 When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born. 5 “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written:
6 “‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,
are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;
for out of you will come a ruler
who will shepherd my people Israel.’b]">[b]”
7 Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. 8 He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”
9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. 12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.

Just A little
Ok, when I saw these, I tried to ignore them. I never had a thing for allot of sweets. I still don’t, but this year I have seen some of the best looking confections I’ve ever seen. I have to give the culinary folks some props. This will make you stop dead in your tracks and start dreaming about how good this will taste in your mouth. Just in case you don’t recognize, these are cookies.
When I saw the price of this really small yellow cake, I could resist. But I’m telling you it was hard ! Man this looked good. Say the name out loud, ‘Almond Raspberry Decadence.’ I’ve been good Lord, can I have some ? I walked away. I believe I had my latest gout attack (lasted 2 days) just from looking and drooling at that cake. Should have gotten it since I had my first full fledged gout attack in quite a while. Anyway, I was able to get my favorite, at my Company Christmas Party. You know those small green short cake cookies you have to eat a thousand of to be satisfied, you know they’re shaped like a Christmas tree (luckily I had pigged out). Yes them, and I had a few. They were GOOD too. I want some of Aunt Ethel’s German Chocolate Cake. And what’s going on with the fruit this year, it’s awful. I remember at Christmas, when we would get those huge Red Delicious Apples, and Oranges as big as a Grapefruit. Sorry I did this to you. If you do any of these things I mentioned, please email me so I can give you the address to send them to me. And stop laughing I’m being serious !
Love and Merry Christmas

Alberta Clipper Sails Through
It's cold and we're in the middle of a rather large 'Lake Effect' Storm Watch until Tuesday at 7:00 PM. Conditions exist for 2 to 3 feet of snow and a blizzard in some affected areas.
It just so happens I'm on 'Holiday Leave' sitting cozily in front of the fireplace. As you can see from the picture, this storm is broken for now but is expected to combine and cover the whole Great Lakes Region. Just think, Winter doesn't start for a couple of weeks.
This is What it looks like on the ground, for now.
That 90 degree Summer we just had sure is a beautiful memory. I wish I could have had holiday south of the Mason/Dixon line.

Grace In A Restaurant
Hello, This was sent to me as one of those cute true stories. That kid could have very well been one of us, so I related. Here’s the story but I’ve changed the pictures.
Sometimes we forget the really important things in life.
Last week I took my grand-children to a restaurant. My six year old grand-son asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, “God is good, God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if Nana gets us ice cream for dessert. And liberty and justice for all ! Amen !”
Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a woman remark, “That’s what’s wrong with this country. Kids today don’t even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream ! Why I never !”
Hearing this, my grand-son burst into tears and asked me, “Did I do it wrong ? Is God mad at me ?”
As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job, and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table.
He winked at my grand-son and said, “I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer.”
“Really my grand-son asked.”
“Cross my heart,” the man replied.
Then in a theatrical whisper, he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), “Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes.”
Naturally I bought my grand-children ice cream at the end of the meal. My grand-son stared at his for a moment, and then did something I will remember for the rest of my life.
He picked up his sundae and, without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, “Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes; and my soul is good already. “
That lady probably turned as red as those strawberries.
Sometimes we all need some ice cream.
Personally, I loved this story.

Winter Preview
I’d been bracing for the snow, for a couple of days now. This is what we got, a duster. Tomorrow it’s expected to be 54 degrees. As you can see the leaves are still on the trees. They say it’s going to be cold in Florida. There goes the price of orange juice ! Any way, this was what they call “lake effect” snow because Lake Erie is still warm, and a cold front crossed the lake which causes potential for the lake to be a snow machine. I actually feel blessed, it could have been allot worse.
That’s the Lake right above the pushpin. We could have gotten clobbered.

For The Kid In You
Although this project was allot of fun. I was thinking about some preschoolers in Bermuda and a Cousin. This was indeed an amazing show. The Ring Master is on the front car of the "Funundrum Train." For 'kids' of all ages! Believe me I was one of them.
Check out these videos to get a little taste of how amazing this was.
The Circus was a BLAST.

I guess you can tell, I hadn't been in a while. Hope you enjoy. Finis

Moon Lovers Delight
This full Moon, tonight, is called The Hunter’s Moon. Visible in the Northeastern sky, along with Jupiter, is definitely a sight to see. I have a shot of Jupiter, but it’s such a little thing next to this really bright Moon. In the camera’s eye, Jupiter gives off a dreamy halo. Well here it is. The Moon will be visible in Asia during the day.

Autumn Bike Getaway
If you are an avid cyclist like I am. Well, like me and a friend are. Here are some of the scenes we were able to see in Columbus, Ohio. The trail was near Walnut Creek. The park was absolutely breathtaking and scenic. Enjoy some of the shots from the ride.
There were some guys in the park playing football. They were like giant kids playing in the park.
It was a good ride with varying countryside. The twisty gravel road, paved streets, bridges. The Bicycles were not what I was used to. I had a Triax, which I’ve never heard of. I’m sort of spoiled because I own a Giant Cypress Rst, which is a pretty nice cruiser. I’m not saying the Triax was bad but it’s more of a mountain bike and it’s considerably heavier than my Giant. The loop we took was about five miles so I was tired when we got back. The day was the perfect day for a long ride. It was the fact that the bikes just were too heavy for a couple of old geezers out there trying to ride. It was a fun adventure.
This was the Dog Park, securely fenced in.
The Amish
I was passing through West Salem when I saw these men. Yes this was earlier today. It was like a scene from 1750. I guess it’s hard to imagine living like the Amish do in these days of the high tech society. They waived as we passed by like good neighbors would.

Message in a Bottle Survives Epic Journey
Last year, a high school student named Corey Swearingen put a letter in a bottle, sealed it up, and dropped it in the Atlantic Ocean, off the Florida coast. It was kind of an experiment for school. In the letter, he appealed to whomever came across the bottle to contact him and let him know where in the world it showed up. Amazingly, someone did.
About 16 months after the bottle was dropped, Swearingen's marine science teacher heard from someone in Ireland. The letter had made its way across the Atlantic Ocean and washed up on the shores of the Emerald Isle, found by a 17-year-old and his Dad while out for a stroll. In an interview with Florida Today, Swearingen said he never expected the message to be found.
Can't blame him for pessimism. After all, the wine bottle, which, according to Swearingen, is being put up on display in an Irish pub, did face long odds. But it's hardly the first message in a bottle to survive a perilous journey.
In 2009, a message in a bottle washed up on the shores of England. It had been tossed into the waters near the Bahamas nearly five years previous. Incredible, but that pales in comparison to a bottle sent by Emily Hwang. True, Hwang's bottle traveled "only" 1,735 miles from Seattle to Alaska, but it took an amazing 21 years to do so.
There's even a case of a message in a bottle helping a family find a new life. In 1979, Dorothy and John Henry Peckham dropped a message in a bottle in the Pacific Ocean while on a cruise. Amazingly, the bottle found its way to Southeast Asia where it was picked up by 31-year-old Hoa Van Nguyen.
Nguyen wrote back and began a correspondence that eventually led to the Peckhams helping to sponsor Nguyen and his family's immigration to the United States.
Eat your heart out, email.
